I looked at reviews beforehand and saw the complaints about running out of the wood glue before the assembly was done, so I had already purchased some extra before I started. It was a good thing I did because I definitely would have run out, so that is something to keep in mind.
The height is just perfect for my use in bedroom. Pretty much levels the same as my bed = two mattresses + bed frame. (My old tv stand was too short.) Kitty also has claimed the middle platform as his own sleeping perch. Conclusion?: If you need a tv stand and you want to get the best bang for your buck; Get this, you would not regret it. Even with the tad price hike, this is still worth the purchase, due its quality and style.
It’s very stylish, perfect size, and looks modern and well-made. Word of warning though, I did purchase the handy services to have the piece put together as it came in 1 million parts . The guy took three hours to put it together, so I can’t imagine how long it would’ve taken me.
It took my husband about 1 1/2 hours to fully install it, and that was because he is a carpenter and took the necessary time to glue everything properly and make sure it was built sturdy. I read the reviews about the quality being poor and the veneer looking shabby, but let me tell you truthfully - IT LOOKS GREAT.
I consider myself pretty handy, so the assembly was not that bad. It took a little over an hour, hour and a half to get finished. One drawback that others may dislike, the stickers that are designed to go over the screws to hide them look great and would conceal them nicely, if only they actually stuck. I opted to just throw them out, and I still think it looks fine. The screws are on the inside of the shelves, so it is dark in there and they are hard to see anyway
Needless to say I was able to get it up 3 flights of stairs and assembled alone undamaged. NOTE you should not fully tighten the door hinges onto the stand at first because it does take some adjusting to get it perfect and there will still be a small gap but that is part of the design.
